Article formatting guidelines

The authors of the articles to be published in the series should follow these formatting guidelines:

  • the text should not exceed 30,000 characters, including spaces;

  • the text should be presented in .doc or .docx format, preferably using the Microsoft Word editor. The text should be in Times New Roman font, font size - 12, line spacing - 1.5;

  • the UDC code should be placed at the beginning of the article text. It should be assigned by the author personally in accordance with the UDC reference book located at http://teacode.com/online/udc

  • a bibliography should be placed at the end of the article; the list of abbreviations used in the text (РГИА, DOP, etc.) with their transcriptions should be placed afterward; it is advisable to refer to a number of scientific articles no older than ten years when preparing a scientific paper;

  • in-text references to sources and literature (behind-text links) should be made as follows: the name of the author of the book or article is put in parentheses in italics, then, after space the year of publication, and after a colon – the number of the page(s) to which the reference is made; for example: (Грабарь 1912: 68–96), (Paul 1963: 127–133);

  • references to archival sources are given in parentheses, for example: (РГАСПИ. Ф. 517. Оп. 1. Ед. хр. 1837. Л. 14–16);

  • when referencing different works by the same author published in one year, an addition of a letter to the reference should be made as follows: (Добрицына 2017а: 47), (Добрицына 2017б: 83);

  • page-by-page notes should be created in the automatic mode in the Microsoft Word editor and used only for the data that, for some reason, cannot be placed in the main text of the publication, as well as for translations of foreign words. References to literature may be placed in parentheses in the text of the note;

  • illustrations are accepted with a resolution of at least 300 dpi in jpeg or tiff formats;

  • drawings must contain a scale bar, with rare exceptions;

  • the number of illustrations should be equal to the number of pages of text in the article, but no more than 15;

  • the text of the article should be saved in a separate file called "Family_text.doc" (e.g., "Ivanov_text.doc", Latin script only); the list of illustrations should be saved in the "Family_illustr.doc" file, e.g.: "Ivanov_illustr.doc", the author's instructions on the position of the illustrations (column width, strip width, etc.) can be specified in this document;

  • illustrations should be saved into separate files, which should be numbered according to the List of illustrations with a number only, for example, "5.jpeg"; references to of illustration number, should be given in the text of the article, for example: (ил. 5);

The following information is saved in a separate "Family_key.doc" file:

  • the author’s full name;

  • the title of the article;

  • a short abstract of the article (200 – 250 words - strictly!);

  • keywords for the article (no more than 5-7 words and word combinations);

  • the author’s full name in English;

  • the title of the article in English;

  • a short abstract of the article (200 – 250 words - strictly!) in English;

  • keywords for the article in English;

  • information about the author in the amount of no more than 700 characters with spaces, containing in strict order, separated by commas, without abbreviations:

  • Full name, academic degree, academic rank, place of work, and position in the nominative case. At the end of the text, the postal address of the place of work, and contact information of the author, e-mail, phone number should be given;

  • the same information about the author in English (required).

The article materials should be presented in three text files:
Family_text.doc; Family_illustr.doc; Family_key.doc and image files.

After the next collection of the series is formed, authors are sent a template of the license agreement, which should be signed, also, for posting the full texts of articles on the website of the NEL (The National Electronic Library), RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index). It should be signed and handed to the editor or sent by mail to the editorial office of NIITIAG.
